Hybris is a key-value storage system that robustly replicates data across different clouds while keeping metadata on private premises.

Thanks to this architecture, Hybris provides strong consistency guarantees among cloud replicas, in spite of the weak guarantees offered by single cloud providers. Moreover, Hybris features unprecedented robustness, tolerating up to f potentially malicious clouds by requiring as few as 2f+1 public clouds in the worst case, with no expensive cryptography. In common case, Hybris is also very efficient: writes involve f+1 clouds, whereas read operations involve only a single cloud.
